PiCon
Advancing PEF Process Optimisation with AI and Acoustics
At Elea, we are developing PiCon, an AI-driven inline quality control and process optimisation tool designed to enhance the efficiency of Pulsed Electric Field (PEF) treatment in potato and vegetable processing.
How PiCon Works
The PiCon system captures acoustic signals during the cutting process of PEF-treated produce. These signals are then analysed using advanced AI algorithms to detect treatment inconsistencies instantly. This real-time monitoring allows for immediate process adjustments, improving efficiency, reducing waste, and ensuring product quality throughout the production line.
Key Benefits of PiCon:
Real-Time Quality Monitoring – Immediate detection of inconsistencies in PEF treatment.
AI-Powered Process Optimisation – Intelligent data analysis for predictive control.
Resource Efficiency – Reduced need for manual sampling and intervention.
Enhanced Product Quality – Consistent treatment results in higher yield and improved texture.
PiCon is set to revolutionise inline quality control, driving efficiency and innovation in PEF processing.
PEF technology is now a standard in food processing, particularly within the potato industry. However, ensuring consistent treatment efficacy and maintaining high-quality standards post-treatment remains a challenge. Current methods often rely on sampling-based evaluations, making real-time, predictive process control difficult to achieve.
PiCon addresses this challenge by integrating Artificial Intelligence with acoustic signal analysis to assess PEF treatment effectiveness in real-time.
